A Magazine Curated By is a biannual fashion publication founded in Antwerp in 2001 and now run from Paris. Maison Martin Margiela

The first Curated By issue — originally released in 2004 — was guest-edited by Maison Martin Margiela. Though no page bears his name, the entire magazine carries the Maison’s anonymous collective: fax communiqués, street casting, deconstructed garments and photographic projects by staff, trainees and collaborators who defined Margiela’s early language.

Issue 30, “A Manual For Living Curated for Nike”, is a special project exploring the internal intelligence of the sportswear brand after five decades of innovation. Conceived as a usable manual across five chapters — Mind, Body, Soul, Desire and Imagination — its nearly 200 pages fold sport science, the athlete mindset and creative practice into exercises meant to be annotated and acted on.

Issue 27 is curated by Glenn Martens, creative director of Diesel and Y/Project. Across 200 pages he gathers collaborators from fashion, art and photography — interviews, portfolios and visual stories that reflect his subversive tailoring and the DIY spirit of both houses.

Issue 25 is curated by Chitose Abe of sacai — the first Japanese woman to guest-edit the magazine. Its ultramarine cover opens 200 pages of bilingual community: #sacaiTHEpeople portraits from Tokyo to Los Angeles, commissioned projects by chefs, architects and artists, and hybrid fashion stories that channel sacai’s collaborative spirit.

Issue 3 is curated by Haider Ackermann. Published in 2005, it extends his poetic, androgynous vision through photography and art direction — including work by Steven Klein and Ronald Stoops — in the spirit of the early Curated By volumes.

Issue 2 is curated by Yohji Yamamoto — a magazine built from conversation rather than drawings. It collects interviews with the photographer, scenographer, filmmaker and choreographer collaborators who have shaped his work, mapping Yamamoto’s influences and creative “soulmates.”
